My Wall So Far

Hey everyone, here are some pictures of my working model

I was influenced by Le Corbusier’s La Tourette Monastery. Here is a pictures of it.

What really inspired me in the monastery were the shapes of the windows and how every one is slightly changed from the one before. I treated my walls like windows and varied the depths of the shapes on them. I played with the idea of penetration and penetrated a bench into my wall.

In my final model, however, I simplified the wall a little to make the small changes in the pattern of the wall more dramatic. I decided to play with layering rather than penetration since my wall was already so thick, and I included a habitable space between the layers of the wall. I really liked the pattern I used on the wall and decided to use it for more than just the wall; for the shape of the windows in the habitable space and the built in area to sit.
